Belated Monkey Socks picture

I finished these a few weeks ago. They are for my 10 year old daughter, M, shown on her feet.

Knitted with Cherry Tree Hill supersock. Love this yarn! Soft, squishy, but strong. Kinda like me. ;)
Monkey Knitters: I am going to close this board and change it to the Tree Jacket / Juliet Knit Along if no one minds. If people want to keep it open, let me know and it wouldn't be a problem!!!

I thought the addiction was broken. It is not. I fell off the wagon and started knitting another monkey on my trip. Darn. I'll see you at group therapy on Thursday night...

Hedera

The Hedera socks are complete. Purchased 2 skeins of Panda Cotton from Twist to knit up these lacy summer socks on #0 dpns. (Shelly grabbed the first sock I completed for a sample in the shop but these are MINE!) The cotton/bamboo stretch of this yarn makes the socks quite comfortable on the footsies.

A pair of monkey socks

That was fun! The hardest part will be deciding whether to start another monkey pair or whether to start an entirely different sock.
I have started Hedera. I finally figured out the toe up, magic loop business. The pattern took a few rounds to get settled in my mind, but we are good friends now. I love how it is looking! They took a minute to bask pool side between rows.

Suggestion

I found a sock pattern at Knitty that I wouldn't mind making. It's Diamante. http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall06/PATTdiamante.html
I am making Hedera! It is going to take quite a while as I am trying to translate the pattern into toe up!

Monkey Part Deux

Another Monkey. These guys knit up so fast!

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

I am not rushing the monkeys. Heck, I am thinking of getting yarn for yet another pair! I was just thinking ahead as six people said they would like another KAL for a sock. I was looking at patterns and thought that I would suggest two that looked pretty good.

1. Knitty's Hedera
2. MagKnits Rainy Day Socks

What are your suggestions? I will put them together and we can vote later. No rush. No rush a'tall. I hate rushed monkeys... those are the most unruly type of monkeys.

Driving Monkey done

Some of us cannot knit and drive, so instead I let the Monkey drive.

One short Monkey done -- she will have to wait for a mate!

My Limey Monkey

Shelly should be painting. Instead, she's taking pictures of her monkey sock.

I'm using TOFUtsies. It's pretty fine, so I went down half a needle size. We'll see how it turns out...

Monkey Love

I love this monkey. The lace pattern is addictive to work and looks so pretty. I made one adjustment to sl st the heel for more reinforcement since I really plan to wear these. Now on to a mate for my monkey.
Second pair of monkeys have just jumped off of the needles. They are done. What is a girl left to do now? Make more monkeys? That is a distinct possibility...

-I have a batch of yarn left from the one ball of Plymouth Sockotta. Perhaps baby monkeys?

**Just found a pattern for Toe Up Monkeys and put it in the directions section. From Knitting Sutra!**

Bad Monkey, No No!

I started my monkey. I did. But the yarn wasn't right so I started to wind some Lorna's Laces (in "jeans," a lovely mix of blues) but I am apparently a complete moron who has lost the ability to use a swift and a yarn winder.
In my defense it WAS after midnight and I was tired.
I'm going after that monkey tomorrow.

Knit on.

Pirates & Monkeys

The knitting monkied along quite nicely. It's time to turn the heel. Turn the heel on the monkey -- sounds like a pirate saying.
This one is in Crystal Palace's Panda Cotton, Carib Blue.

My first monkey is almost complete. It's knit in Brown Sheep Wildfoote, color Camel.

K-state purple socks

This is the yarn that Jackie was using and I love it. I have a ways to go, but I can see that this sock thing can get addictive. The sock from the Connie sock class is coming along also, I can't decide if I like toe up or top down...
What yarn are you using for your monkeys? I used Cherry Tree Hill in Loden for the first pair and LOVED it. I am now using Plymouth Sockotta in some blue /green combo and I really enjoy the colors, but it is a twitch twisty for my liking. I think that the pattern is turning out just splendidly in the variegated yarn as compared to the solid color. I am starting to decided on what yarn to use for my next pair and if I could possibly make a baby monkey sock...

My First Monkey Sock

Thank you, Lia, for inspiring this Monkey Sock Along. Here is my first one. I have about one and a half more sets of the lace pattern before I can begin the heel flap. I can't wait to see everyone else's.

Knit No Evil

Welcome to the first post on the Monkey Sock Knit Along! I am forewarning you that this pattern is highly addictive. If you start knitting one, you will soon have too many monkeys jumping on your bed. It is total craziness. Please post pictures in progress of your monkeys, finished monkeys or just monkeys monkeying around!!!

Here I am working on monkey #3!!
